Ingredients For Hong Sue Chicken Recipe
- 3 lb. Chicken Thighs, boneless and skinless
- 2 Eggs
- 1 cup Flour
- ½ cup Corn starch
- 1 cup Bok choy
- 1 cup Mushrooms, sliced
- ½cup Bamboo shoots
- 4 Green Onions, sliced
- 1 tbsp dark Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp light Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar
- 1 ½ tbsp Sherry
- 1 tbsp Garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1 tsp Red Chili Bean paste
- 1 tbsp Black pepper, coarse
- 1 cup Low-sodium Chicken Stock
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 4 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Method For Hong Sue Chicken Recipe
- In a bowl, season the chicken with salt and ½ tbsp of pepper. Set it aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix 1 tbsp vegetable oil, flour, corn starch, and eggs. If required, add water for the desired consistency that coats the chicken thoroughly.
- Add the chicken to the flour mixture and mix well.
- In a wok or a skillet, add the remaining vegetable oil and heat to medium heat.
- Drop the battered chicken pieces one to one in the oil and fry until golden and crisp. Take the crispy chicken out and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add mushroom and bamboo shoot. Cook until the mushrooms are brown and the bamboo shoot is tender.
- Then add ginger, garlic, red bean paste, and bok choy and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
- Now add dark soya sauce, sherry, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and honey to the vegetables and mix well. Bubble it for a minute.
- Add chicken stock and remaining black pepper. Cook until the sauce is thick and coats the back of the spoon.
- Add crispy chicken to the sauce and toss well.
- Serve hot with the rice or noodle and with a sprinkle of sesame seed on the top.
